A Look Back at 2018!

This year has been extremely challenging for me, Brad, and our marriage. We have laughed and cried, apologized more than we’d like to admit, and learned how to truly lean on one another. This year has brought us closer together than ever before because for a couple of months this year, we were all each other had. Luckily for us, the year turned around for the good as it came to an end. We love where we live, we adore our church family, we are both doing well in our jobs, we have our little guy Winston, we have spent a ton of time with family, and we are excited about 2019! I wanted to share a little 2018 recap for you all so here it is…

My Top 5 Favorite Purchases of the Year:

Car Phone Mount // I use this thing every single day and I love it! If you use your phone for GPS – this is a must-have! Easy to install, easy to use, and works for any size vehicle.

Steamer // I got this for Christmas and have already used it almost every day. It’s fun-sized but works SO FAST! Even Brad approves 😉

If You Only Knew by Jamie Ivey // My favorite book I’ve read all year. I read the whole book in one night.

Nintendo Switch // This is another one we got for Christmas and we haven’t stopped playing it. We have been having SO much fun and it’s such a neat concept of a gaming console. Would 10/10 recommend spending the money to have one of these if you like playing games and hosting people.

My Top 5 Memories of 2018:

Getting our little guy, Winston! This has been the perfect ending to this year!

Celebrating our ONE YEAR anniversary! This was such a milestone moment for us, we survived the first year now we can take on the next 50!

Moving into our new house! It was not an easy process whatsoever, but we love our new home + the location we are in!

Getting a job with Rescue Her! I have felt so blessed to work for this nonprofit. I love getting to make a difference every day when I got to work. I adore our staff. I am so blessed to know the survivors I get to walk alongside. I am honored to call this my job.

Joining the staff at Vibrant Church! God is doing so much in our church and it’s a true honor to be a part of it. We were welcomed with open arms and have met some of the most amazing people along the way. We are pumped about 2019!

Do you have a favorite memory? Write it down. Share it with the person it involves and celebrate the good times together.

My 5 Biggest Lessons I Learned This Year:

Don’t let your success, emotions, or motivation ride on other people’s actions, words, or reactions.

Surround yourself with people who celebrate you, not those who tolerate you.

Self-care is not just bubble baths, naps, and doing nothing. It’s doing the things you love the most and what is necessary for your joy.

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. This phrase has been strung through my 2018 and I hope to carry it with me into 2019.

If it’s not Good, then God’s not finished. He is a good Father, even when our situations are not. He always takes care of His children and I have found this so true in my life this year. (Read more about it here.)

Did you learn any valuable lessons this year?

Write them down to make sure you don’t forget them.
