My Favorite Things from 2019

THE ENNEAGRAM // I feel like this is the first personality test that I can truly get behind. It has really helped me understand myself and help others understand me as well. The enneagram has put words to things and feelings I never could. I am super excited to dive deeper into it this year. One of the first books on my list is The Road Back to You.

MENTORSHIP // This year, I stepped out and asked someone (who I barely knew) to be my mentor. This has been the best decision I made all year. She has stretched me, encouraged me, been the friend I needed, and she understands parts of my life that others do not. If you don’t have a mentor yet, do yourself a favor and get one! It’ll change your life because we all have blind spots and this helps!

WORSHIP // I’ve been a worship leader for the past 4-5 years, but this year for me was marked by worship. I worshiped deeper than I ever had and cultivated an atmosphere of worship into my day-to-day. Spotify released a playlist of your top songs each year and the majority for 2019 were worship songs. You can listen to my worship playlist here.

SHORT HAIR, DON’T CARE // I have been loving my short hair in 2019! To see my favorite products and how I style it, head to How I Style My Short Hair.

GETAWAY HOUSE // We loved our stay at Getaway House! It was the perfect weekend escape and refresh for us. It’s a bunch of tiny houses with the goal to help you “get away” from the busy and hurried lifestyle of the city. They are located all across the US near big cities. You can stay for $25 off with the code COURTNEYH25.

SPEAKING // I spoke more this last year on a platform than I ever have before. I actually got to bring the Word on a Sunday morning in 2019. If you want to listen to that message, you can here. There was this stirring in my soul this year to speak Truth and share the Word more than ever before.

THE EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY LEADER // This is one of my favorite books of all time. I believe everyone should read this book at least once. I’m going to read it once a year because it’s packed with that much wisdom.

OWN YOUR EVERYDAY // I was on the launch team for this book! It is a really great read and Jordan Lee Dooley was one of my biggest inspirations in 2019.

JEAN JACKET // This has easily become one of my closet staples! I went up a size (M) to have it fit more oversized so I can wear it with sweaters too!

SPERRY DUCK BOOTS // I bought these for our trip to Michigan for Christmas but they’ve also become a staple. They are super comfortable and have become my go-to instead of tennis shoes during this season.

MY TOTE BAG/BACKPACK // This has been a game-changer for me! I can fit everything I need for work and it turns into a backpack if my hands are full. It’s so cute and I’ve received SO many compliments on it. It’s currently on sale and comes in black or brown, snag it while you still can!

WORK-WEAR SHOES // I have never been able to wear flats or mules because they don’t fit my foot shape right. This year was the year that changed! I found some work-appropriate, closed-toe shoes that I LOVE! Shop my nude mules with a slight heel. Shop my cheetah mules with slight heels. Shop my crocodile flats (mine are white but these are the same shoe).

SWEATPANTS // I do not gravitate towards athletic wear because I am SO far from being athletic that I feel strange wearing it. This year, Brad’s mom got us these Under Amor sweatpants and I LIVED in them for about a week straight. They are jogger fit, extremely soft, and warm.

SLIPPERS // Slippers are the one thing I didn’t know I needed until I had them. I have lived in these when I’m home. They’re super reasonably priced and really comfortable and could pass as shoes honestly.

The Real Life Podcast – Christian // This has been a constant listen for me over the past two years. I love Jeff and Alyssa Bethke. I love how they live their life, raise their children, and cultivate a Jesus-centered home.

SHE Podcast – Christian + Entrepreneurship // Jordan Lee Dooley’s podcast has been another constant for me. This is a great mixture of Christian living, marriage, friendship, and entrepreneurship.

Goal Digger Podcast – Entrepreneurship // Jenna Kutcher is a BOSS LADY. I learn so much from her podcasts and she has phenomenal guests that bring so much wisdom for this space.

The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey – Christian // This is one of my favorites to listen to on my commute to work. It’s an hour in length and she has AMAZING guests and they’re all women. She has had people ranging from Beth Moore, Christine Caine, and more!

Behind the Scenes – Marriage + Christian // The Roloofs are doing amazing things and this is one of them. They bring everything from marriage topics, powerful guests, as well as a fun mix of traditions and other things.

NEXXUS DRY SHAMPOO // This stuff saved my life more than one time! I use this stuff literally every day and I have restocked multiple times this year. It smells delicious and it works SO well!

TULA ROSE EYE BALM // This stuff is sooo refreshing to put on in the mornings and when I get home from work. It brightens your under eyes and creates a cooling sensation too! My one and only skincare routine lol.

SCRUNCHIES // 2019 was the year of the scrunchies for me and I’m not going back to elastics ever again.

BORN THIS WAY CONCEALER // If you have dry skin like me, this is better than the Tarte Shape Tape. It doesn’t crease and a little bit goes a long way. I’ve had my bottle for over a year now.

LANCOME LASH PRIMER // This product does amazing things for my lashes. You apply it before you put mascara on and it works SO well!

TRIPOD // This was bought on a whim before we went to the Getaway House but I’m so glad we got it. It’s easy to dismount and super lightweight to carry around. We even used it to take our Christmas card photo!

WATER TUMBLR // This worked really well for me to get me to drink more water. It has a straw and it’s insulated so it keeps your water cold throughout the day. They have SO many colors and options to choose from!

STEAMER // This was my FAVORITE purchase of 2019 probably. Winston chewed the cord so we have to get a new one but I loved this steamer and it’s small enough to fit into your carry on or suitcase to travel.

POO-POURRI // This is a really random one but I didn’t go anywhere without this stuff. They’re a Dallas-based company and this product is a game-changer for your restroom experience 😉

  1. Talk about one phenomenal 2019 you had! Love how so much of your year was defined by faith-based moments and experiences. From worship to leadership to books and podcasts and more. That’s amazing! I hope 2020 is just as spectacular for you!

  2. Yes!! Thank you, I have been looking for new podcasts to listen to. I will definitely gives these a listen 🙂 Poo-Pourri is actually legit lol. My SIL told me about it and we have it at our church lol. It definitely works!

  3. awe what a beautiful year! I love what you said about the enneagram! I’ve felt that way about things over the last couple of years (human design, astrology, shamanism) and it’s given me so much peace ❤ I think we all just want to feel understood and seen.
