Lone Star Christmas at the Gaylord // This is a one-stop place for the whole family. There is the story of Rudolph brought to life by 2 million pounds of ICE! They also have ice skating and snow tubbing inside without the hassle of waiting in the cold. The Gaylord keeps traditions alive with a gingerbread decorating corner and Mrs. Claus. They even have breakfast with Rudolph and build-a-bear workshop too! The Gaylord also has shops for the adults and beautiful rooms for the whole family.

Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights // Drive through a Texas-sized light park at the largest speedway in Texas! After you’re done you can stop at Santa’s Village for more adventures and hot chocolate!

Holiday in the Park // For the more adventurous, Six Flags’ Holiday in the Park is a must visit. This amusement park turns into a Christmas, winter wonderland in the middle of Texas!

Enchant Christmas // The world’s LARGEST Christmas light maze! And if that’s not good enough, they also have ice skating, food & drinks, live music, and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Claus. They also have a Christmas market, this place keeps getting more magical!

Dallas Zoo Lights // As the animals head in for the evening the Dallas Zoo transforms into a Christmas dream with over a million twinkling lights! This is family fun for everyone and something unlike you’ve ever seen before. They also have musical performances, lots of crafts and fun for the little ones, and tons of photo opportunities.

The North Pole Polar Express // Climb aboard a vintage train car and be welcomed by guests. Then explore the North Pole and it’s all its magic, including Christmas musical performances. There are hotel packages available.

Christmas Movies at the Historic Palace Theatre // Enjoy your favorite Christmas classics in this beautiful theatre. They also have Christmas concerts for you to enjoy.

Santa’s Village // Experience walk through gingerbread-style houses with fun activities for everyone. There is a miniature train, photo ops with Santa, performances, and more!  And the entry is FREE, but expect a crowd.

Holiday at the Arboretum // The Arboretum is beautiful any time of year but it gets a magical transformation for the holidays. Lights guide the 66-acre garden, they have a 12 Days of Christmas exhibit, and you can even expect LIVE reindeer. If that’s not enough, they have Santa sighting, live performances, and a market.

Christmas at the Anatole // This place has it all for a Christmas experience you’ll never forget. You can ride a magical train, predict the weather with Jack Frost, mail a letter to Santa, make slime with the Grinch, and even enroll in Elf school. They also have endless light shows, holiday performances, and fireworks! They also have holiday room packages with your choice of breakfast with Santa or a private reception for very important elves.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra // The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has a ton of amazing holiday shows. Brad and I went to the Christmas POPs show a couple years ago and it was a blast. They have everything from classical music to fun, sing-a-longs with Santa. I would recommend getting your tickets early because they sell out fast.

The Best Neighborhoods to Look at Christmas Lights in North Texas:

  • Hunters Glenn, Dallas TX
  • Highland Park, Dallas TX (They even have carriage rides through the houses)
  • Interlochen, Arlington TX (They whole neighborhood gets involved and it’s a Texas winter wonderland!)
  • Downtown Grapevine, TX (Did you know Grapevine is the Christmas capital of Texas?!)
  • Deerfield, Plano TX
  • Elderoaks, Dallas TX
  • University Park, Dallas TX (has my must-see neighborhood Christmas display – see here.)

A few other fun ideas:

  • Most movie theaters show Christmas classics throughout the holiday season.
  • Many town squares have a tree lighting ceremony, or some kind of holiday festival, that usually has something for everyone. (I used to attend the Denton one every year for the Wassal fest.)
  • Don’t forget to look at your cities website for other holiday fun, festivities throughout the season.
  • The Galleria Mall in Dallas also has an inside ice skating rink with a GIANT Christmas tree in the middle if you don’t want to fight the weather.

  1. YESSSS TO THIS POST!!!! I NEEDED TO READ THIS! I currently live in North Dallas and I’m so so pumped to have came across this list! I have bookmarked this and can’t go to ENCHANT, as well as drive around these neighborhoods to see the lights! Thanks so much girl!

  2. This sounds like so much fun! We are taking our girls to one of those Christmas lights drive through things and we are super excited about it! 🙂

  3. Although Christmas season is now over this is still a great post. I live in Addison and visit the Galleria semi-often – that tree is definitely one-of-a-kind. There is even a light show a few times a day.
