Friday Five: Brad’s Birthday Edition

It’s my husband, Brad’s birthday and I want to celebrate him well! So for today’s Friday Five, I’m sharing my 5 favorite things about Brad. (It was hard to pick just 5, but I did it!)

1 // His heart

Brad has one of the most caring hearts out of anyone I’ve ever known. He cares so much for everyone he encounters, but they would never even know the depth of it. He loves so well and cares so deeply, but not everyone gets to see it. That’s why it’s one of my favorite things about him, I get to see it every day. The way he talks about his students, the way he hurts for his friends and family, and the way He follows Jesus amazes me daily. Brad’s heart is definitely my favorite thing about him and I’m so honored to be his wife.

2 // His humor

Brad makes me belly laugh and fall to the floor with tears in my eyes at least once a week. He is one of the funniest people I know and it makes being married to him SO MUCH FUN! We have such a good time together and he always keeps me entertained. He reminds me to take myself less seriously and always find something to laugh at even in the midst of hard times. His humor and laughing together has helped us through a lot of tough seasons so far and I know it will in the future.

3 // His introverted-ness

If you don’t know me, I’m an extrovert to the extreme. I really struggled (and still do) with Brad being an introvert when we were first married because we are wired so differently. Over time, I have come to love it. It challenges me to take a step back. It reminds me to rest and that alone time is healthy. It teaches me new ways to love and interact with people. Being married to Brad has taught me so much about others and it’s truly amazing how much one person can teach you about the world around you.

4 // His confidence

Brad would never admit to this, but he is so confident. I wish I had his confidence. It’s such an attractive quality in him. He knows what he’s good at and he doesn’t allow anyone else to tell him that he’s not. He is so good at so many things, like seriously so good, and he’s not prideful but he’s confident. I rarely let myself be confident because I feel self-centered but he’s teaching me that it’s a good thing to know your strengths and walk in confidence.

5 // His spontaneity

Brad and I love to go on adventures, big or small. Everything from a midnight run to Whataburger to planning our honeymoon a week in advance. I love that in the season of life we’re in right now, we can be spontaneous. We can make split decisions to go to the movies or a sporting event or the zoo. I love that the sense of adventure is there. It’s something we as humans crave (read Captivating) and I love that it’s so ingrained in our marriage from the start.

Brad’s not one to celebrate birthdays, but I believe he deserves all the celebration in the world. He has accomplished so much in these last 29 years and has created a beautiful story. I’m just excited I get to be a part of it. Happy birthday, B-Rad! I love you!
