Each of us has dreams and things we hope to accomplish. Along with those dreams comes passion, dreams mean nothing without passion pushing them forward. I’ve never met someone who had a dream that didn’t directly correlate with their passions. Regardless of what your passions are, we all go through seasons where we feel a little (for lack of a better word) less passionate. Maybe even burnt out? Or dare I say seasons of doubting our passions and dreams? Let me tell you, I have been there. In fact, I’m coming out of it right now.
I hope it isn’t hard to see how passionate I am about blogging. Not only blogging but using the social media platform to make it a positive place as opposed to the negative one the world is trying to make it. My hope is to mold this little corner of the internet into a community of women cheering on other women in all seasons of life. Unfortunately for me, life has been CRAZY the past couple of months. Things at work, church, home, you name it…there was probably something crazy happening. I got exhausted. Exhaustion led to me not pursuing this dream inside my heart. My passion was lacking due to the season I was in. I’m here to share some helpful tips to not be like me and rekindle your passion before you get to the point of neglecting it.
1 // Remind yourself why you started
Dreams and passions always begin somewhere, take yourself back to that place, that moment. When we remember where it began we are able to remind ourselves why we should continue.
2 // Look back at the times you pushed through in the past
When we look back on the times we persevered, we are more likely to do it again. We experience the things we do to either 1. help ourselves not experience it again or 2. help others not have to ever experience it. Your breakthroughs and accomplishments are the push needed to keep going.
3 // Write down 5 short-term goals regarding your passion/dreams
Regaining focus always helps remind us why we do what we do. When we take time to invest in our passions again, it makes it easier to push through the burn-out and doubt and keep pursuing.
4 // Surround yourself with supportive people BEFOREHAND
There should be people in your corner cheering you on so well that you don’t lose that passion. BUT when you do, they are there to remind you why you started, help push you further into your dream, and encourage you when it gets tough.
5 // Figure out how you got to the place of doubt, burnout, etc and then find ways to avoid getting there again
You know yourself better than anyone, therefore you know the boundaries you need to put in place. For instance, if you experienced burnout due to overworking, then schedule in some days off. When we are able to look back and see where the mistakes were made or when we didn’t take care of ourselves well, then we can put things in place to avoid that in the future. That’s not to say that once these are in place you’ll never experience it again.
If you’re in a season of burnout, doubt, or frustration, I hope this can bring some peace and inspiration to keep going. Your dreams are worth investing in and your passions aren’t there by mistake. I’d love to hear some of the dreams you want to rekindle in the comments below!
That was really needed..it’s motivating..exactly we should remind ourselves y we started
Love this!
I love your message. What a good reminder, even for an old lady of 71.
What a lovely post! I’ve been feeling burnt out lately, and this gave me the perk to remember my passions and goals and keep on keepin’ on with them. Also need to let go and take some time to reflect! Thanks for sharing 🙂
This is SO relevant right now – love it! Burnout is the worst, especially when your passions fall by the wayside.
